Anne Butler is a longtime Charlotte Mason educator, writer, and the founder of TABLE Learning Resources (Truth And Beauty Living Education). Her years of homeschooling her own children led her into a deeper study of Mason’s philosophy and its emphasis on personhood, living ideas, relationship, and a child’s natural desire to learn.
Her work also explores the distinctly Christian foundation of Mason’s philosophy, including the role of the Holy Spirit in education and the knowledge of God as central to a full life.

Reflections On Learning To Live
Understanding Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and methods can sometimes prove a daunting experience. There are six significant volumes and a set of 20 noble and weighty principles. There are lofty quotes and grand ideals. There are new terms, methods, and unique or unfamiliar subjects. The method and philosophy can be difficult to fully grasp or understand how exactly to implement. Ask any long-time CM practitioner the question, “What is a Charlotte Mason Education?” and see how, even she, flounders in answering.
Because stepping into the world of Charlotte Mason is a bit like stepping into Narnia through the wardrobe…a whole new world is opened, and the experience can be hard to describe.
With a heart to clarify and inspire both new and experienced Charlotte Mason teachers–to continue the effort and stay the course, in this talk, Anne is preparing to explain some of the key paradigm shifts that she and other CM practitioners have come to know and love.
BREAKOUT SESSION
The Value and Practice Of Narration
Narration is one of the hallmarks and distinctive features of a Charlotte Mason Education. It is the third leg of the typical 4-part stool in a Charlotte Mason lesson, and the focus of two of Mason’s 20 principles. This break-out session will share the timeless value and benefits of narration. Practical instruction on how to consistently practice narration and how to transition from oral to written narrations will be shared. This session will conclude with some practical immersion experiences.
